After Market Support

Score was asked by a client to supply very high specification manufacturer-specific replacement valves. The existing valves were already in operation at the client's plant but were faulty and required to be replaced on an urgent basis.

Score requested the Client's permission to undertake inspection of the existing valves as supply chain management teams could not find stock replacement valves of this specification anywhere in the world.

The valve type, required function and materials of construction were assessed, in conjunction with the service conditions prevalent at each individual tag location. This enabled Score to engineer a solution to the problem which resulted in savings of £millions to the Client.

This was done by carrying out a critical assessment of the overall situation and justifying an alternative credible means of providing the valving required. Score's engineering department carried out design calculations to prove that the proposed solution was technically acceptable. The in-house capabilities of the Score Group upgraded and modified existing stock valves to meet the requirements. All work was performed on a 24 hour turnaround.

By providing an optimal repair solution, Score prevented the Client from having to wait the manufacturers lead-time, which in turn would have resulted in excessive production losses and premium payments for new valves
